Carter performs strongly in Europe

Sydney figure skater Jo Carter has finished in sixth place in the Finlandia Trophy in Helskinki.

The 1998 Nagano Olympic representative was in sixth place after the short program, and maintained that spot after the free program.

In a clean sweep for the local skaters, Susanna Poykio won the event from Alisa Drei, with the bronze going to Elina Kettunen. Drei is currently ranked 11th in the world, with Poykio in 13th place.

Lina Johansson of Sweden, who finished one spot behind Carter, is number 16 on the world rankings.
