20th in world titles

Miriam
Manzano has finished in 20th place in the world figure
skating championships. The Australian champion added a
20th placing in the free skate to the 18th she recorded
in the short program to improve six places overall on
her 2003 world title result of 26th.
Her
best world championship result was 16th in 2002.
The
event was won by Japanese skater Shizuka Arakawa, the
22-year-old producing a near flawless performance to claim
her first major championship medal.
Americans
Sasha Cohen and Michelle Kwan took silver and bronze,
the defending world champion placing second in the free
skate to climb above Japan's Miki Ando in the overall
result.
Kwan
has now made the podium in the past nine world championships.
